    Description:
Little Owls is one of our most popular summer camps– simply put, it is a hybrid of Sports Camp and Summit Seekers – campers will move through the day in small “owl cohorts” with an assigned color and team of Counselors and Counselors-in-Training (CITs). The morning will be focused on sports and games, after lunch will be focused on artistic craft activities, and the day will end with open pool time for everyone.  Some of our favorite Little Owls activities are our cardboard boat design challenge, egg-drop challenge, camp carnival and Olympics games day. Counselor in Training Program

List of 1 items.

  • CIT Program - Session 3

    Grade: 8-10
    Cost: $700
    Schedule: 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Prerequisite for Session 3: Returning CITs Only. During this session, we are opening the program to young leaders who have been through at least 1 CIT session. Attendance from any CIT session from any summer is acceptable. This camp closes registration at 16 campers.

The CIT program will provide a hands-on opportunity to develop a variety of skills necessary for future employment as a camp counselor and for skills that will help them work with children. CITs will have a well-structured yet flexible series of workshops where they will have the opportunity to learn more about the different aspects of being a camp counselor and working with children. CITs will learn valuable leadership and communications skills and have the opportunity to participate in a self-motivated program designed around their ambitions to work towards their goal of being a camp counselor. CITs will develop the skills by participating in swimming, games, field trips, first aid and child safety as well as leadership and child psychology courses. Our goal is to give young people the opportunity to work under a qualified director and to begin to learn and understand the demands and responsibilities of a camp counselor’s job. Campers will look to CITs as leaders and role models, therefore, high standards of conduct, attitude and good judgment are expected at all times while working with campers.

Athenian Aquatics Program

List of 1 items.

  • Swim Lessons

Athenian Summer Aquatics Program provides eight 20-minute lessons in a session (Monday – Thursday) for campers 4-years-old and up. Our program is designed for children at all swim levels, based on the American Red Cross “Learn to Swim” curriculum. Little swimmers will discover how to fully submerge their face and blow bubbles and experience supported floating and kicking on front and back. More advanced swimmers will begin to learn alternating arm action, swimming under water, rhythmic breathing, and the major strokes. For swimmers ready for even more advanced techniques, a program can be adapted to meet your swimmers individual needs.

    "Add on" Swim Lessons
Campers enrolled in Summit Seekers, Sports Camp, Little Owls, and Half Day Trail Blazers, can add on swim lessons during their day-camp hours. Our camp staff will pick up these campers from their camp programs and take them to their swim lessons (and back). These swim lessons are taught by trained lifeguards and swim instructors, and are small groups of two students to one instructor.

    Session 1: $165
    Session 2: $188
    Session 3: $188

    Private Swim Lessons
Private swim lessons occur after camp hours and are one-on-one, 20 minute individualized lessons with our trained lifeguards and swim instructors. These occur between 3:30 and 5:30 PM Monday through Thursday.

    Session 1: $205
    Session 2: $265
    Session 3: $265

*Note: Make up swim lessons are not provided if you are unable to attend camp.

Extended Care

List of 1 items.

  • Extended Care

    AM Extended Care

Morning Extended Care is free of charge and starts at 8AM. While we do not charge a fee for early drop-off, we do ask that you check off this “add on” option during registration so that we can take account of how many campers to expect in the mornings for our staffing planning purposes. Additionally, we provide “Breakfast Club” as an “add on” option during registration, which provides a hot breakfast and fruit/cereal options from 8-8:30AM daily at an additional charge of $8 per meal.

    PM Extended Care

Afternoon Extended Care is an additional cost that you can “add on” as an option during registration. Extended care is staffed by seasoned camp counselors who engage with campers through a menu of choice activities: arts and crafts, games, and outdoor equipment. Afternoon Extended Care is from 3:30-5:30pm.

Please make every effort to arrive by 5:30 pm. We recognize that there are times when unavoidable challenges arise, and therefore, our policy is that after one occurrence of lateness, a $1.00 per minute penalty will be incurred. The staff will notify you at the time of pickup, and the fee will be charged to you.  The Summer Programs Director will follow-up with the collection of this fee (that goes directly to the staff that must work overtime). If not paid immediately, a $5.00 processing fee will be billed to your account in addition to your late fee.

Any camper who has not been picked up will be directed to Extended Care.

Please be aware that on the last day of camp for Session 3 we will not offer Extended Care. We will close at 3:45 PM.
