Our summer enrichment classes are a great option for families looking to customize their child’s summer experience. In this “build-your-own-camp” model, campers can explore a variety of fun classes—such as: nature exploration and hiking, speech and debate, F1 block robotics, cooking, ceramics, arts and crafts, woodshop, archery and more (dependent on each session’s availability). Enrichment classes are taught by our talented Athenian School faculty and local artists and educators. Click the box below to learn more about our classes.
This summer, enrichment classes are grouped together in half-day blocks for families and campers to choose from. Campers who sign up for AM Half Day camps and classes will be picked up after lunch (lunch is included for free, and pick-up is typically from 12:30-12:45 PM). Campers who sign up for ONLY PM half day options will not be able to have lunch (Drop off is typically 12:30-12:45 PM). More information on pick-up and drop-off will be provided to registrants closer to program start dates.
We have three two-week sessions to choose from. Please note all grades listed for Athenian summer camps and classes indicate the grade your camper will be entering into for the upcoming fall/school year.

Period A + B: Dungeons & Dragons The Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game is about storytelling in make-believe worlds of sword and sorcery. In this game, a group of players create imaginary characters and band together to embark on an imaginary adventure. D&D provides structure to these adventures by using a set of rules combined with an element of chance to determine the consequences of the characters' actions. Players roll dice to resolve whether or not their character is able to accomplish some heroic feat or daring gambit. Anything is possible, but the dice make some things more probable than others.
Playing Dungeons & Dragons provides everyone opportunities to use and develop fundamental interpersonal, academic, and life-long skills. Thanks to the nature of the game being set in an imaginary world, players get to learn how to solve problems, resolve conflicts, manage resources, overcome adversity, and how to work together as a team, all in a safe environment. Playing D&D gives players a chance to exercise their organizational skills, analytical skills, basic math skills, and their imaginations. Players frequently need to be resourceful, resilient, and creative over the course of a game as a sudden plot twist in the story turns the characters' plans on their heads. And because D&D takes place in a make-believe fantasy world, it offers unlimited potential for self-expression. It's most valuable benefit, however, is that it simply gives people a chance to play a fun game together face to face with their friends.
Instructor Doug Martilla has been an Athenian Afterschool Enrichment Instructor and Summer Instructor for over 5 years, leading campaigns with excellent story-telling skills and extensive knowledge of the D&D world.
Period C + D: Roblox Studio Game Design Roblox is one of the hottest places in the universe to make games, with cutting edge graphics and new, amazing, game building tools. In our Roblox Game Design course, kids use Roblox’s built-in editor to create 3D worlds and then use the popular LUA coding language to code game actions, elements and mechanics. Younger campers use built in AI to code their games without the need for text-based code. CodeREV Roblox campers also learn how to publish and share their game to the Roblox community world-wide! This camp program is brought to you by Code Rev, which provides Coding, STEAM, Game Design, Engineering, and Digital Design experiences to campers across the country in summer and after school programming.
Period C: Ceramics Students will use hand building and sculpture techniques in Ceramics, taking the clay from an initial wet clay stage through bisque and glaze firings. No previous experience required.
We are delighted for Kristen Calderon to return to Athenian Summer Programs and share her talents as both an artist and caring teacher.

Period C + D: The Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game is about storytelling in make-believe worlds of sword and sorcery.
