You will find "session basics" below - drop off and pick up, extended care, meals, swim lessons, and transportation. If you are having trouble locating information that you need, please reach out via email here.
We provide extended AM care for campers starting at 8AM free of charge, however if you’d like your camper to participate in the breakfast program we charge an additional fee per camper per session (see below), which must be bought for the entire session. Breakfast begins at 8AM and is served until 8:30AM. You can sign up for Breakfast Club through our registration portal as an “add on” during check-out. You can find a copy of our menu on the homepage of our website.
Generally, drop-off is from 8:30-9am, and pick-up is from 3:30-4pm. Half day pick-up and drop-off are usually between 12:30-12:45pm. Please look out for more information regarding the logistics and details of pick-up and drop-off closer to camp.
Please be aware that pick-up and drop-off is a very busy time. Expect a line of traffic in and out of our campus, and ensure you have read our logistics memo to better prepare yourself for this part of the day.
Please also come prepared with a valid ID, as we will check for authorized pick up on the first few days of camp, until we recognize faces. Please ensure to update your “authorized pick up” list well in advance of the first day of camp so that you camper has a smooth pick-up experience.
Morning Extended Care is free of charge and starts at 8AM. While we do not charge a fee for early drop-off, we do ask that you check off this “add on” option during registration so that we can take account of how many campers to expect in the mornings for our staffing planning purposes.
Afternoon Extended Care is an additional cost (see below) that you can “add on” as an option during registration. Extended care is staffed by seasoned camp counselors who engage with campers through a menu of choice activities: arts and crafts, games, and outdoor equipment. Afternoon Extended Care is from 3:30-5:30pm.
Please make every effort to arrive by 5:30 pm. We recognize that there are times when unavoidable challenges arise, and therefore, our policy is that after one occurrence of lateness, a $1.00 per minute penalty will be incurred. The staff will notify you at the time of pickup, and the fee will be charged to you. The Summer Programs Director will follow-up with the collection of this fee (that goes directly to the staff that must work overtime). If not paid immediately, a $5.00 processing fee will be billed to your account in addition to your late fee.
Session 1: $115 per camper Session 2: $225 per camper Session 3: $205 per camper (no extended care on the last day of Camp)
Any camper who has not been picked up will be directed to Extended Care. Please be aware that on the last day of camp for Session 3 we will not offer Extended Care. We will close at 3:45 PM.
We work with the Epicurean Group to provide healthy, fresh foods for all of our students throughout the year and in the summer (cost for lunch and snack included in camp fees). Our talented kitchen staff are very adept at accommodating children’s dietary needs, including vegan, gluten-free, dairy free–so please be sure to inform the Athenian Summer Team about your child’s food restrictions.
If you would like your child to participate in the Breakfast Club program, please review that section.
Athenian Summer Aquatics Program provides 20-minute lessons for campers 4-years-old and up.* Our program is designed for children at all swim levels, based on the American Red Cross “Learn to Swim” curriculum. Little swimmers will discover how to fully submerge their face and blow bubbles and experience supported floating and kicking on front and back. More advanced swimmers will begin to learn alternating arm action, swimming underwater, rhythmic breathing, and the major strokes. For swimmers ready for even more advanced techniques, a program can be adapted to meet your swimmers individual needs.
On the first day of camp your camper will be in the pool for a swim assessment to determine current swim level and goals for the end of camp. We follow aquatics safety procedures determined by the American Red Cross and have certified Lifeguards on deck at all times when campers are inside the pool gates.
*Note: Make up swim lessons are not provided if you are unable to attend camp.
There are two different options for campers who want to participate in swim lessons: “Add on” Swim Lessons during camp hours, and Private Swim Lessons after camp hours.
Session 1 (2 campers in a group, during camp hours): $125 Session 1 (Private, after camp hours): $185
Session 2 (2 campers in a group, during camp hours): $195 Session 2 (Private, after camp hours): $275
Session 3 (Private during camp hours): $275 Session 3 (Private after camp hours) $275
We provide two different bus routes during the summer, and we will offer the following schedule and costs as noted:
Session 1: No transportation program due to short number of program days
Session 2: Blue and Red line offered: $70 (each way)
Session 3: Blue line ONLY offered: $70 (each way)
Each sibling is 50% off the above prices
Your child must be pre-registered to ride the bus through our registration system. Transportation is an “add on” in our system, and families can sign up for morning transportation, afternoon transportation, or both. We do not offer bus transportation after lunch. The bus route can be found here.
Our school buses are the big yellow buses and will read “The Athenian School” on the side. If registration for transportation is low, we may be using our white 16-person school vans (with the school’s logo on the side). A daily safety inspection is performed on each vehicle. All drivers are certified school bus drivers and as such, follow all state and federal driving regulations. All school buses are equipped with cell phones.
