What is your favorite Athenian memory, class, or experience?
At Athenian, I was surrounded by people with such diverse backgrounds, thoughts, and values. This enabled for many intellectually engaging and thought provoking conversations to occur. I remember once during sophomore year, my friends and I were talking about how we could reduce food waste at our school. Three hours later, we found ourselves discussing potential solutions to addressing food and housing insecurity. Another time, my physics teacher and I started a debate on the nature of reality and human perception in the lunch line. Thinking back, I am still in awe of their ability to clearly and respectfully articulate their opinion, and just how much learning happens not only in the classroom, but in everyday encounters on campus. The trading of intellectual ideas, the amount of fun and laughter I had in the process, and the genuine connection I felt with my friends and teachers were some of my favorite memories from Athenian.
